ART/SOUND/NOW

ART/SOUND/NOW is a sound-art series I co-curate with my colleague Hannah Burstein, in which artists are chosen to create new sonic environments for the galleries of the Walters Art Museum.  At each half-hour performance, the audience is meant to tour the space and focus on objects while listening to a live soundscape. The emphasis is neither on the visual art or the aural art–they are given equal footing in this program.  The thesis for A/S/N, then, is that listening to a unique set of sounds while looking at visual art, even if you have seen the art before, will fundamentally change the way you view and understand that art.
